Art: Mixed Media — Explore Your Creative Side

Discover (or rediscover!) your love for art in this relaxed, supportive mixed media class. Whether you enjoy drawing, painting, watercolor, or want to try them all, this class is open to both beginners and experienced artists alike. Work at your own pace on projects you love, with personalized guidance when you need it. First-time students should bring a sketch pad and pencils or any project you’d like to start. Bring your own supplies as needed—just bring your creativity, and we’ll handle the inspiration! ($70)

Fire & Form: Metal Art For Beginners 

An Introduction to Plasma & Oxy-Acetylene Metal Art

This hands-on creative welding class introduces students to the artistic side of metal fabrication using both a plasma torch and an oxy-acetylene torch. Designed for beginners and hobbyists, the course blends safety, technical fundamentals, and artistic exploration. Participants will learn how to safely cut, shape, texture, and manipulate steel into simple but expressive metal art pieces — laying the foundation for more advanced sculptural and artistic welding projects. By the end of the course, students will complete small metal art projects and gain confidence working with heat, flame, and form.

Heather Hornack will be teaching this class.  She is a highly recognized artist and welding instructor.

No prior welding experience required. All supplies will be provided.

Life Enrichment class topics offered are based on community input and range in skill levels from beginner to advanced. Classes can take place in one session or span several weeks. Please note: Life Enrichment classes cannot be used for credit toward any of the college’s degree programs.
Life Enrichment class registration fees vary and there are no fee exemptions for these self-supporting classes. If for any reason a student cannot successfully complete the class, he or she will need to register again at their own expense. Registrants may receive a full refund if a Life Enrichment class is canceled prior to the start date due to low enrollment, or the student withdraws from the class before the start date.
