Health Heroes Camp is a hands-on, interactive experience designed to introduce middle school students to the world of healthcare. Hosted by Carteret Community College with the generous funding of the North Carolina GSK Foundation's Ribbon of Hope Grant, the camp gives participants the chance to explore real health science programs—like nursing, radiography, and medical assisting—while building practical skills through activities such as taking vital signs, learning first aid techniques, and participating in Stop the Bleed training and more! Campers engage with local healthcare professionals and tour medical facilities, helping them see how classroom learning connects to real-world careers.
More than just a camp, Health Heroes Camp is about helping students envision their future. Through engaging lessons, team-based challenges, and exposure to high-demand health careers, students gain confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of how they can make a difference in their communities. The program is designed to be active, inspiring, and accessible—planting the seeds for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
